Hear the difference
The same dry vocal, without and with Netherjaw.
Default demon on a rap hook
A dry male rap hook · Default (down 7 semitones, sub, 25 % growl)
Wobble growl on a rap verse
A dry male rap verse · Wobble Growl (WOB, 1/8 triplets)
Talking growl on a sung lead
A dry R&B lead vocal · Talking Growl (YOY, 1/2 bar)
Death growl on a rock chorus
A dry male rock chorus · Death Growl (down 12, ROAR, 50 % mix)
Haunted rattle on a spoken line
A dry spoken line · Haunted Rattle (down 6, ROAR 50 %, cavern)
Every clip is level-matched, so the difference you hear is tone, not volume.
Why Netherjaw
A demon in two knobs
DEPTH drops the voice up to two octaves; SIZE makes the throat bigger. Together they turn a person into a monster that still speaks clearly.
A growl that moves
Not just a pitch shift: GROWL wobbles, talks and roars in time with your song, from a steady tube growl to a full dubstep-style wobble.
The whole chain inside
An octave-down rumble with BEAST and a dark cavern with HELL, all level-matched and protected by an output safety stage.
Depth. Size.
Two big knobs make the demon: how far the voice drops, and how big the throat it comes out of.

The demon voice effect
- A demon in two knobs. Up to 24 semitones down, and a throat from 0.50x to 1.00x, set apart from the pitch.
- A growl that moves. TUBE, WOB, YOY or ROAR, locked to your tempo from 1/1 to 1/32 triplets.
- The whole chain inside. Rumble, growl and cavern, every preset level-matched to the dry vocal.
- Safe. Every peak held under -1 dBFS, and a fixed latency your DAW compensates.
- DEPTH (0 to -24 semitones) and SIZE (formants 0.50x to 1.00x).
- BEAST (an octave-down voice, off to 0 dB) and HELL (a dark cavern reverb).
- GROWL with STYLE (TUBE, WOB, YOY, ROAR), RATE and SYNC (17 tempo divisions, or 0.10 to 20 Hz) and SHAPE (SIN, TRI, SQR, SAW).
- MIX, IN and OUT with meters, SHORT WINDOW, ENGAGE, and an output safety stage.
- 20 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
GROWL · RATE · STYLE
A growl that moves with the song.
Pick TUBE, WOB, YOY or ROAR, lock RATE to your tempo from whole bars to 1/32 triplets, and shape the movement with SIN, TRI, SQR or SAW.
What Netherjaw does
Every control has one job: the exact demon you hear in your head, faster.
DEPTH
Drop the voice below human range
Up to 24 semitones down, two full octaves, in steps of a tenth. -7 is the classic demon; -12 a full octave; -24 a voice from the abyss. The formants are kept, so the words stay clear.
SIZE
The throat of a monster
Scales the voice's formants from 0.50x to 1.00x on their own, separate from the pitch. Lower is a bigger, deeper body: the move that makes a voice sound like a creature rather than a slowed-down person.
BEAST
A rumble an octave below
A second voice one octave under DEPTH, through a low-pass at 1.2 kHz, from OFF to 0 dB. It joins after the growl, so the rumble stays steady while the growl moves.
GROWL
From a snarl to a roar
How much growl is blended in, 0 to 100 %. The growl branch is high-passed at 100 Hz before it distorts, so the low end stays clean.
STYLE
Four kinds of growl
TUBE, a steady tube growl; WOB, a wobble that opens from oo to ah; YOY, a talking y-o-y with a crushed edge; ROAR, a wobble with a ring-modulated rattle and the most grit. Every style is level-matched.
RATE and SYNC
Locked to your song
With SYNC on, RATE picks 17 divisions from 1/1 to 1/32T, straight, dotted and triplet, and the growl follows your host's grid, so every bounce is identical. With SYNC off, 0.10 to 20 Hz.
SHAPE
Shape the movement
SIN moves smoothly, TRI evenly, SQR jumps between two vowels like a gate, and SAW falls on every beat.
HELL
A dark cavern around the voice
A cavern reverb, 0 to 100 %, about 2.7 s long, with its lows below 120 Hz and highs above 4 kHz cut, so it surrounds the demon without muddying it.
MIX
Full demon or a layer
The demon against your dry voice, equal power. 100 % for a full demon; 50 % to layer the monster under the real voice, as the Layered Demon and Death Growl presets do.
SHORT WINDOW
Less delay when you need it
A shorter pitch window that saves about 10 ms of delay (60 ms instead of 71 at 48 kHz), a little less smooth. Your DAW compensates either way.
Output safety
Loud growls stay under control
A transparent safety stage after MIX and OUT holds every peak under -1 dBFS, with no added latency. It does nothing below -1.5 dBFS.
20 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
Classic, deep and subtle demons, pitch drops for dialogue and slowed vocals, caverns and the abyss, and six moving growls, every one level-matched to the dry vocal.
A face that moves
See the demon breathe
The lava's cracks brighten with the output, the glow under the stone teeth flickers with the growl's own movement, and the logo's light breathes with the sound, for under 1 % of a CPU core.

How Netherjaw compares
A full demon voice in one insert, with the controls most leave out.
| Netherjaw | Typical demon voice plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | One insert: drop, throat, rumble, growl and cavern | A pitch shifter, a distortion, a reverb and a sub layer to build |
| Throat | SIZE moves the formants apart from the pitch | Formants fall with the pitch: a slowed-down person |
| Rumble | BEAST: an octave-down voice that stays steady | A duplicate track to pitch and EQ |
| Growl | Four styles that wobble and talk in time with the song | A static distortion |
| Tempo | 17 synced rates, straight, dotted and triplet | Often free-running only |
| Space | HELL, a dark cavern built in | A separate reverb |
| Safety | Peaks held under -1 dBFS | A loud growl can clip |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Hardware control | MIDI Learn on every control | Often host automation only |
| Licence | 5 computers per copy, no dongle, works offline | Often fewer activations, or a dongle |
| Updates | Lifetime updates included | Often paid upgrades |

Questions
Will the words still be understandable?
Yes. DEPTH keeps the voice's formants while it drops the pitch, and SIZE sets the throat on its own, so the demon still speaks clearly. For even clearer words, lower MIX to 50 % (the Layered Demon preset).
Is it just a pitch shift down?
No. On top of the drop, SIZE gives it a bigger throat, BEAST an octave-down rumble, GROWL a growl that wobbles and talks in time with the song, and HELL a dark cavern.
Does the growl follow my song's tempo?
Yes. With SYNC on it locks to your host's tempo and grid, from 1/1 to 1/32 triplets, so every bounce is identical. With SYNC off it runs from 0.10 to 20 Hz.
Can I use it live or for streaming?
It has a fixed delay of about 71 ms at 48 kHz (60 ms with SHORT WINDOW), which your DAW compensates on playback. For monitoring while you speak, that delay is audible, so it suits recording and mixing best.
Does it work on a stereo bus?
Yes, mono or stereo.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/netherjaw-demon-voice-manual.
What if it's not for me?

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
Every demon voice you've heard. One insert.
