PyreDistorted delay effect · echoes that break up harder on every pass
The only distorted delay you'll ever need for echoes that burn a little more every time.
Every echo goes back through the dirt, so each repeat comes back grittier than the last, while your dry part stays clean. Four kinds of distortion, a loop that sings into a drone past 100 %, echoes that duck under the vocal, zero latency and every preset level-matched.

Hear the difference
The same dry sound, without and with Pyre.
Acoustic guitar, fuzz echoes
A dry acoustic guitar loop · a Song preset with FUZZ (fuzz, 1/4 repeats)
Lead vocal, the default
A dry male vocal hook · Init (1/4, warm drive, ducked)
Crushed ad-libs
Dry rap ad-libs · Vocal / Crushed Ad-libs (bit-crushed 1/4 repeats)
Dub chord, dirt per pass
Dry synth chord stabs · Song / Dirt Dub Chord (dotted 1/8, more dirt each pass)
Murk cloud
Dry picked guitar phrases · Song / Murk Cloud (fuzz, dark, an undulating cloud)
Distorted lead, 400 ms
A dry clean guitar lead · Song / Lead 400 (AMP breakup, 400 ms repeats)
Every clip is level-matched, so the difference you hear is tone, not volume.
Pyre in action
Why Pyre
Dirtier on every pass
The distortion sits inside the echo loop and is pushed harder as each repeat fades, so the fourth echo is audibly crunchier than the first: the dirty delay sound, not a fixed grit.
Your dry part stays clean
Only the echoes are distorted. The dry signal is never filtered, delayed or driven, and DUCK tucks the echoes under the vocal or the riff and lets them roar in the gaps.
Four kinds of dirt
WARM tube, FUZZ, AMP breakup and CRUSH, each level-matched so FEEDBACK means the same in all four. Turn FEEDBACK past 100 % and the loop sings into a distorted drone that never blows up.
Time. Drive.
Two big knobs do the work: how far apart the echoes are, and how hard every one of them burns.

The distorted delay effect
- Dirtier on every pass. The fourth echo is audibly crunchier than the first.
- Four kinds of dirt. WARM tube, FUZZ, AMP breakup and CRUSH, level-matched so FEEDBACK means the same in all four.
- A clean part over dirty echoes. The dry is never touched, and DUCK tucks the echoes under it.
- Safe to push. A limiter inside the loop turns runaway feedback into a drone; zero latency.
- TIME (1/32 triplet to 1/1 at the host tempo, or 20 ms to 2 s with SYNC off) and DRIVE (LIGHT to MOLTEN).
- TYPE (WARM, FUZZ, AMP, CRUSH), FEEDBACK (0 to 120 %), TONE (murky to bitey) and DUCK.
- MIX, IN and OUT with meters, and ENGAGE.
- 13 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
FUZZ
A thick, murky cloud.
Fuzz in the loop, the tone rolled down and the feedback up: repeats that smear into a dark, wavering cloud behind the part.
What Pyre does
Every control has one job: the dirty echoes you hear in your head, faster.
DRIVE
Dirt that builds pass by pass
The distortion is inside the echo loop, and each fading repeat is pushed back up into it, so the repeats get grittier, fuzzier and more compressed as they go. The line under the knob names the grit: LIGHT, GRITTY, HOT or MOLTEN.
TYPE
Four kinds of dirt
WARM, a tube that thickens and rounds the echoes; FUZZ, a hard, square clip that snarls and smears; AMP, an amp breaking up in the mids; CRUSH, fewer bits and a lower rate, from 15 bits down to 9, which DRIVE's line spells out.
TIME
Locked to your song
A note value at the host tempo, from a 1/32 triplet to a whole note, straight, dotted or triplet; or switch SYNC off for 20 ms to 2 s. The line under the knob reads the time in milliseconds.
FEEDBACK
From one echo to a drone
0 to 120 %. The default 35 % gives three repeats you can hear. Past 100 % the loop sings into a distorted drone, and the built-in limiter keeps it from ever blowing up.
TONE
Murky or bitey
The filters inside the loop, so every repeat is darker or thinner than the last: -100 is murky (80 Hz to 1.5 kHz), the centre is the classic dub band (200 Hz to 5 kHz), +100 is thin and bitey (600 Hz to 9 kHz).
DUCK
A clean part over dirty echoes
The echoes step aside while you sing or play and come back in the gaps, so the dry stays readable. 30 % by default.
Same grit at any level
Quiet track or loud
The send is brought to one level before the dirt and back after it, so a quiet guitar and a loud vocal get the same grit from the same DRIVE.
MIX
Insert or send
The echoes against the dry, equal power: 30 % on an insert, 100 % on an aux send.
IN and OUT
Gain where you need it
Input and output gain, -24 to +24 dB, with level meters on both.
13 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
Fuzzed guitar echoes, a 400 ms lead delay, dub chords that pick up dirt on every pass, crushed vocal ad-libs, a murky cloud, a meltdown drone and the classic dub chain, every one within 1 LU of the dry signal.
Zero latency
Track and perform through it
Nothing is delayed but the echoes, so you can sing or play through it live.
A face that moves
Watch the echoes burn
The fire flares with the output, and the embers light a little higher up the column as each echo returns, hotter as you turn DRIVE up. It rests when you bypass.

How Pyre compares
Distortion inside the echo loop, with the controls most leave out.
| Pyre | Typical drive delay plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the dirt is | Inside the loop, pushed harder on every pass | A drive before the delay, or a fixed colour |
| Kinds of dirt | WARM, FUZZ, AMP and CRUSH | One saturation curve |
| Feedback | Means the same in every TYPE, at any DRIVE | Changes as you add drive |
| Past 100 % | A distorted drone, held by a loop limiter | Runs away or is capped |
| The dry | Never touched; DUCK keeps it clear | Often coloured too |
| Level | Same grit at any input level; presets within 1 LU | Louder input, more grit |
| Latency | 0 ms | Often some |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Hardware control | MIDI Learn on every control | Often host automation only |
| Licence | 5 computers per copy, no dongle, works offline | Often fewer activations, or a dongle |
| Updates | Lifetime updates included | Often paid upgrades |

Questions
What is a distorted delay?
A delay whose echoes go back through a distortion every time they repeat, so each one comes back dirtier than the last, while your dry part stays clean. Guitarists call it a drive-into-delay sound; producers often call it a dirty delay.
Does it distort my dry signal?
No. Only the echoes are distorted. The dry signal passes through untouched, and DUCK pulls the echoes back while you sing or play.
Which TYPE should I start with?
WARM for thick, rounded tube echoes, FUZZ for a snarling smear, AMP for crunchy, mid-forward guitar repeats, CRUSH for grainy digital ones. Song / Murk Cloud, Song / Lead 400 and Vocal / Crushed Ad-libs are good first stops.
Will it run away at high feedback?
No. Past 100 % the loop sings into a distorted drone, and a limiter inside the loop keeps it from ever blowing up. Turn FEEDBACK back down to let it die away.
Can I use it live?
Yes. It adds no latency, so you can sing or play through it in real time.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/pyre-distorted-delay-effect-manual.
What if it's not for me?

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
