RogerbeepWalkie talkie effect · the voice band, the squelch bursts and the roger beep, keyed by your voice
The only walkie talkie effect you'll ever need to put any voice on the radio.
Turn any voice into a real two-way radio transmission in one insert: a click and a burst of static as each line starts, a squashed, narrow voice, a squelch tail as it ends and dead air between, keyed by the voice itself. A handheld, a tactical set or a toy, a roger beep or the mission-control tones. Zero latency, every preset level-matched.

Hear the difference
The same dry voice, without and with Rogerbeep.
Call and response
Dry call-outs answered by a second voice · Init (handheld, voice-keyed)
CB channel chatter
A dry two-man dialogue · CB / Breaker Nineteen (wider band, more static)
Rap ad-libs on a police radio
Dry rap ad-libs over a trap beat · Handheld / Police Dispatch (the beat stays clean)
Mission control
A dry two-voice exchange · Space / Mission Control (the MISSION beeps)
Military chatter
Dry shouted call-outs · Tactical / Military Chatter (heavy squash, dropouts)
Every clip is level-matched, so the difference you hear is tone, not volume.
Rogerbeep in action
Why Rogerbeep
The whole transmission
Not just a narrow EQ: every line opens with a click and a burst of static, rides on an open channel, and closes with a squelch tail, then dead silence until the next one, as a real half-duplex radio does.
Keyed by your voice
KEY AUTO opens the channel when the voice starts and holds it through the pauses inside a sentence, so one spoken line is one transmission. KEY HOLD and the automatable TALK key give you push-to-talk.
Two knobs to the exact radio
BAND narrows the voice from a clear handset to a tight, tinny one; CRUNCH squashes and clips it from clean to crushed. SQUELCH and STATIC set the bursts and the noise.
Band. Crunch.
Two big knobs do the work: how narrow the radio's voice is, and how hard the handset squashes and clips it.

KEY AUTO
Every line, its own transmission.
The voice keys the channel: a click and a burst as it starts, a squelch tail as it ends. The radio on the face lights up and its meter swings while it transmits.
What Rogerbeep does
Every control has one job: the exact radio voice you hear in your head, faster.
BAND
From a clear handset to a tinny one
The high-pass and low-pass move together: 200 Hz to 4 kHz at 0 %, the classic 300 Hz to 3 kHz at the 40 % default, 450 Hz to 2.2 kHz at 100 %. The line under the knob reads the band.
CRUNCH
Clean, squashed or crushed
The handset's heavy compression and clipping on one knob: 2:1 at 0 %, 8:1 with the peaks clipped about 6 dB at the default, 14:1 at 100 %. The line under it reads the ratio.
SQUELCH
The bursts that sell it
How loud the key-up click and static burst and the squelch tail are against the voice: -3 dB at the default, up to +3 dB, or off.
STATIC
The open channel's noise
The noise under the voice while it transmits, 40 dB down at the default and 30 dB down at 75 %. Past 75 % the signal drops out now and then, every 20 to 10 seconds.
TYPE
Handheld, tactical or toy
HANDHELD: 300 Hz to 3 kHz, squashed and clipped. TACTICAL: up to 3.4 kHz, a harder squash and gate, and a dropout at least every 15 seconds. TOY: a narrower band, more clip, and a little speaker that is also the mic.
BEEP
A roger beep or the mission tones
BEEP adds a roger chirp as each transmission ends, measured from a real handheld. MISSION plays the space-to-ground two-tone: 2,525 Hz as the channel opens and 2,475 Hz as it closes.
KEY AUTO
Your voice keys the channel
The channel opens on the first syllable and holds 450 ms through the pauses inside a sentence, so one line is one transmission. Between lines: dead air.
KEY HOLD and TALK
Push-to-talk, on a key or a lane
On HOLD, the channel opens only while TALK is held, like a real push-to-talk button. TALK is a host parameter: draw it in an automation lane or map it to a pad.
MIX
All radio, or a blend
100 % is the radio alone. Lower it to blend the radio with your dry voice.
IN and OUT
Gain where you need it
Input and output gain, -24 to +24 dB, with level meters on both, and a safety limiter that keeps the radio under -1 dBFS.
13 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
CB channels, a police dispatch, mission control, a tactical net and military chatter, a toy set, a security desk, push-to-talk, a far-away signal and the voice band alone, every one within 1 LU of the dry signal.
Zero latency
Track and perform through it
Nothing looks ahead, so you can talk and sing through the radio live.
A face that moves
See the channel open
The radio glows green with the output, its meter needle swings up while the channel is keyed and falls back when the squelch shuts, and sparks of static flicker round the antenna on every burst.

| Radios | Handheld, tactical and toy | One |
| Latency | 0 ms | Often some |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |

Questions
How do I make a voice sound like a walkie talkie?
Insert Rogerbeep on the voice: Init is already a handheld radio, keyed by the voice, with a click and a burst of static as each line starts and a squelch tail as it ends. Turn BAND up for a tinnier radio and CRUNCH up for a harder squash.
Can it do a police radio or radio chatter?
Yes. Handheld / Police Dispatch is a tighter band, a harder squash and a roger beep; Tactical / Military Chatter is a crushed military channel that drops out now and then; the CB presets are trucker channels.
Does it have a roger beep?
Yes. BEEP adds a roger chirp, measured from a real handheld, as each transmission ends. MISSION plays the mission-control two-tone at both ends instead.
Why are there gaps of silence?
That is the squelch: between transmissions a real radio is silent. With KEY AUTO the channel stays open through the short pauses inside a sentence, so a whole line is one transmission.
Can I key it myself?
Yes. Set KEY to HOLD and the channel opens only while TALK is held. TALK can be automated or mapped to a MIDI pad, so you decide exactly where each transmission starts and ends.
Can I use it live?
Yes. It adds no latency, so you can talk or sing through it in real time.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/rogerbeep-walkie-talkie-effect-manual.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
Every radio voice you've heard. One insert.
The click, the burst, the squashed voice, the squelch tail and the beep, keyed by your voice or by you, at zero latency.
