MegawattFM broadcast processor plugin · radio-station sound for your music: loud, dense and bright
The only broadcast processor plugin you'll ever need for radio-station sound on your music.
The loud, dense, bright sound a song has on a hot FM station, in one insert: an AGC that evens out the quiet and loud parts, three bands that pack the mix together, the bass and the top lifted, and a limiter and clipper that hold every peak under -1 dBFS. Every song comes out at the station's own loudness, at zero latency.

Megawatt in action
Why Megawatt
Every song the same loudness
Quiet or loud, a song comes out at the station's own loudness: an automatic input level and an AGC bring it in, three bands pack it together, and a limiter and clipper hold the peaks.
The bass and the top lifted
The station's sound, not a flat limiter: the low end and the top come forward over the mids, with BASS and SHINE to push either further and a limiter that keeps the top bright and controlled.
Full fidelity, zero latency
No band-limiting, no hiss, no radio-speaker colour: the station's processing at full quality, with zero latency, so it sits on a mix, a master, a live stream or a playout chain.
Density. Loud.
Two big knobs do the work: how much the station evens out and packs your music, and how hard its final limiter and clipper push it.

The FM broadcast processor plugin
- Every song the same loudness. An automatic input level and an AGC bring any song in, whatever level it arrives at.
- A three-band broadcast compressor. Each song is packed where it is heaviest, so a bass-heavy mix and a bright one sit closer together.
- The bright, controlled top. SHINE drives the highs into their own limiter; BASS lifts the low end.
- Limiter and clipper. Sample peaks never pass -1 dBFS. MATCH plays it all at your music's own loudness.
- DENSITY and LOUD, BASS and SHINE, and TYPE (HITS, ROCK, CLEAN).
- MATCH, MIX, IN and OUT with meters, the AGC, LOW, MID, HIGH and CLIP meters, and ENGAGE.
- 12 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
THE RINGS
Watch the station work.
Five signal rings light round the mast's beacon with how hard the processing is working, and the beacon pulses with the beat.
What Megawatt does
Every control has one job: radio-station sound on your music, faster.
DENSITY
From open to smashed
How much station processing, 0 to 100 %: the AGC's reach, up to 12 dB either way, and how hard the three bands pack the mix, up to about 10 dB. The line under the knob reads OPEN, LIGHT, RADIO, DENSE or SMASHED.
LOUD
As loud as the station
How hard the final limiter and clipper are driven: more loudness, traded for a little edge on the peaks. CLEAN, HOT, HOTTER or LOUDEST; the default lands a song at about -9.5 LUFS.
BASS
The station's low end
A 100 Hz lift into the low band's compressor and the low band turned up, so the bass is big and held steady.
SHINE
The bright, controlled FM top
The high band turned up into its own limiter, shaped like an FM pre-emphasis: a top that sparkles and stays controlled.
TYPE
Three station formats
HITS for Top 40: fast bands, a quick AGC and the most clipping. ROCK: slower bands and less clipping, so guitars and drums keep their punch. CLEAN: gentle and open, for jazz, classical and acoustic music.
MATCH
Hear the sound, not the volume
One pill plays the station sound at your music's own loudness, so ENGAGE on and off compare the processing alone. Presets never switch it.
The AGC
Quiet parts up, loud parts down
An automatic gain control evens out a song's verses and choruses before the bands, and holds still in silence, so a pause never pumps the level up.
Three bands
The mix packed together
Low, mid and high, each with its own compressor, reduce each song where it is heaviest: the station's spectral levelling, so a bass-heavy mix and a bright one sit closer together.
Limiter and clipper
Every peak held
A final limiter and clipper take the peaks so sample peaks never pass -1 dBFS, and an output safety holds the line after OUT.
The station meters
See every stage
AGC, LOW, MID, HIGH and CLIP meters in the footer, each with its value: what the AGC is doing and how much each band and the clipper take.
12 sourced presets
Start from a format that works
Top 40, rock, smooth jazz, hip-hop, dance, hot AC, classical and community stations, an internet-radio stream, two mix treatments and a warning-labelled loudness war.
Zero latency
Live, streamed or mixed
Nothing is delayed at any setting, so Megawatt can sit in a live stream or an internet-radio playout chain as well as on a mix.

How Megawatt compares
A whole station chain in one insert, with the controls most leave out.
| Megawatt | Typical broadcast processor plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| Chain | Input level, AGC, rotator, 3 bands, HF limiter, limiter and clipper | Often a compressor and a limiter |
| Every song alike | Each song lands at the station's loudness, any input level | Often depends on the input |
| Tone | Bass and top lifted over the mids, BASS and SHINE to push | Often flat, or dull when pushed |
| Fair comparison | MATCH: the processed sound at your music's loudness | Often no loudness match |
| Latency | 0 ms at every setting | Often some look-ahead |
| Meters | AGC, LOW, MID, HIGH and CLIP | Often one gain meter |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Hardware control | MIDI Learn on every control | Often host automation only |
| Licence | 5 computers per copy, no dongle, works offline | Often fewer activations, or a dongle |
| Updates | Lifetime updates included | Often paid upgrades |

Questions
What is a broadcast processor?
The chain a radio station runs its music through before it goes on air: an AGC that evens out levels, a multiband compressor that packs the sound together, a limiter that keeps the top bright and controlled, and a clipper that holds every peak. Megawatt is that chain as a plugin, at full fidelity.
Is it a lo-fi radio effect?
No. There is no band-limiting, no hiss and no speaker colour: it is the station's processing, not the sound of a radio set. For the sound of a radio speaker, see TrueRadio.
Why does it make everything so loud?
That is the station sound: every song comes out at the station's own loudness, about -9.5 LUFS at the default, whatever level it went in at. Press MATCH to hear it at your music's own loudness and judge the sound, not the volume.
Can I use it in a live stream or a radio playout chain?
Yes. It adds no latency at any setting, works in mono or stereo, and its AGC holds still in silence, so a gap between items does not pump the level up.
Is it a broadcast compressor or a broadcast limiter?
Both: a three-band broadcast compressor, an HF limiter and a final limiter and clipper, after an AGC, in one insert.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/megawatt-fm-broadcast-processor-manual.
What if it's not for me?

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
