Hear the difference
The same dry vocal, without and with MegaFone.
Rock lead through a bullhorn
A dry male rock lead · Cheap Bullhorn (the default)
Spoken announcement on a loudspeaker
A dry spoken phrase · Wartime Loudspeaker
Pop hook with feedback squeal
A dry female pop hook · Feedback Squeal
House verse on a wide PA horn
A dry male house verse · PA Horn
Every clip is level-matched, so the difference you hear is tone, not volume.
Why MegaFone
The horn in one knob
HORN sets the whole band, from a wide PA at 0 % to a cheap bullhorn at 50 % to a narrow wartime loudspeaker at 100 %, and moves the honk with it.
The honk, as a control
HONK is the nasal peak that makes a megaphone a megaphone, from subtle to heavy, on its own big knob.
Crunch and squeal, safely
DRIVE squashes and clips the voice like a small speaker; FEEDBACK slaps it off the walls until it rings, under a -1 dBFS safety ceiling.
Horn. Honk.
Two big knobs do the work: how narrow the horn, and how hard it honks. DRIVE and FEEDBACK finish the sound.

The megaphone voice effect
- The horn in one knob. From a wide PA to a cheap bullhorn to a narrow wartime loudspeaker.
- The honk, as a control. Up to +8 dB, centred where that horn honks.
- Crunch and squeal. A squash into a soft clip, and a slap that squeals when pushed.
- Safe and instant. Zero latency, and the megaphone held under -1 dBFS.
- HORN (400 Hz to 5 kHz, down to 600 Hz to 3 kHz) and HONK (0 to +8 dB).
- DRIVE (a 4:1 squash into a soft clip) and FEEDBACK (a 100 ms slap that rings and squeals).
- MIX, INPUT and OUTPUT with meters, ENGAGE, and squeal safety.
- 16 factory presets in five categories and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
FEEDBACK
From a slap to a squeal.
A 100 ms slap off the walls that rings and squeals like a real PA when you push it, held under a -1 dBFS ceiling.
What MegaFone does
Every control has one job: the exact megaphone you hear in your head, faster.
HORN
From a PA to a wartime loudspeaker
One knob sets the band before and after the drive: 400 Hz to 5 kHz at 0 % (a wide PA), 500 Hz to 4 kHz at 50 % (a cheap bullhorn), 600 Hz to 3 kHz at 100 % (a narrow wartime loudspeaker). The band is printed under the knob.
HONK
The sound that says megaphone
The horn's nasal peak, 0 to +8 dB. Its centre moves with HORN, from 2.5 kHz on a PA to 1.5 kHz on the narrow horn, and is printed under the knob. 3 to 4 dB is subtle, 6 to 8 dB heavy.
DRIVE
Clean to crunchy
A 4:1 squash, then the voice pushed into a soft clip, like a small speaker driven hard. 0 % stays clean; the default 45 % is plainly crunchy. A trim after it keeps the level steady as you turn it.
FEEDBACK
The slap off the walls
A 100 ms slap echo, tuned to the honk, that regenerates as you turn it up. Low settings slap; around 50 % it rings; above it squeals like a real PA.
Squeal safety
Push it, without fear
A transparent safety stage holds the megaphone under -1 dBFS before OUTPUT, so even everything at maximum stays under control. It does nothing below -1.5 dBFS.
MIX
Full bullhorn or a blend
The megaphone against the dry voice. 100 % for the full horn; lower to keep some body under it.
INPUT and OUTPUT
Drive it from the input
-24 to +24 dB each, with meters. More INPUT drives the squash and the clip harder; OUTPUT sets the final level.
Zero latency
Perform through it live
Nothing in the chain looks ahead, so MegaFone answers on the first sample: sing, rap or announce through it in real time.
16 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
Bullhorns, PA and loudspeaker horns, crunch, slaps and squeals, and character sounds like a tin bucket and cupped hands, every one level-matched to the dry vocal.
A face that moves
See the horn shout
The megaphone's rubber rim glows with the output, burst lines flash round the bell on every peak, and the logo's yellow O breathes with the sound.

How MegaFone compares
A full megaphone in one insert, with the controls most leave out.
| MegaFone | Typical megaphone plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| Band | HORN: one knob from a wide PA to a narrow loudspeaker | A fixed band, or two filters to set |
| Honk | HONK on its own big knob, centred by HORN | Not a direct control |
| Crunch | A 4:1 squash into a soft clip, level kept steady | A distortion that changes the level |
| Echo | A slap that rings and squeals, built in | A separate delay |
| Safety | Held under -1 dBFS, even fully squealing | Feedback can run away |
| Latency | 0 ms | Often some |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Licence | 5 computers per copy, no dongle, works offline | Often fewer activations, or a dongle |
| Updates | Lifetime updates included | Often paid upgrades |
"Typical" describes what we commonly see in this category; it does not describe any particular product. MegaFone facts are from the plugin and its manual, October 2026.

Questions
Can it do a police bullhorn, a stadium PA and an old loudspeaker?
Yes. HORN moves from a wide PA at 0 % to a cheap bullhorn at 50 % to a narrow wartime loudspeaker at 100 %, and the presets cover each, with and without the slap.
Will it really squeal?
Yes. Turn FEEDBACK above about 50 % and the slap rings and squeals like a PA. A safety stage holds it under -1 dBFS, so it never gets out of hand.
Can I use it live?
Yes. It adds no latency, so you can sing, rap or announce through it in real time.
Do the words stay clear?
Yes, the megaphone keeps the voice's speech band. For more clarity, lower DRIVE or HONK, or lower MIX a little.
Can I control it from a MIDI controller?
Through your DAW's own automation and controller mapping: every control is a host parameter. MegaFone itself takes no MIDI.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It lives at https://voxsamples.com/megafone-voice-megaphone-effect-manual, and the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar lists what each control does.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
