Hear the difference
The same dry sound, without and with Bleeplet.
Pop chorus, 8-bit
A dry female pop chorus · Init (a chip voice under the crushed vocal)
Pocket hero
The same chorus · Voice / Pocket Hero (handheld, an octave up)
Soul lead, chip only
A dry male soul lead · Voice / Chip Only (only the chip voice)
Guitar through the cartridge
A dry clean guitar arpeggio · Band / Live Band Cartridge
Drum loop, bitcrushed
A dry garage drum loop · Crush / Bitcrush Only (5 bit, 11 kHz)
Every clip is level-matched, so the difference you hear is tone, not volume.
Bleeplet in action
Why Bleeplet
More than a bitcrusher
A bitcrusher only crunches. Bleeplet adds the sound people mean by 8-bit: a buzzy square-wave chip voice that plays the melody it hears in your vocal or synth, under the crushed sound or on its own.
The era, in one key
TYPE picks the machine: a handheld with its tiny speaker, a home 8-bit console, or the warmer 16-bit era. CRUNCH then takes you from clean 12-bit to 4-bit grit, with the bits and rate on the knob.
Mix-ready and on time
Every preset sits within about 1 LU of your dry sound, the chip voice lands with your notes, and LIVE drops the latency to zero when you sing or play through it.
Chip. Crunch.
Two big knobs do the work: how much of your sound becomes a chip voice, and how few bits and how low a rate it plays at.

The 8-bit effect
- A chip voice. A buzzy square wave on the pitch of your vocal or lead, an octave up or down with OCTAVE.
- Three eras. A handheld with its tiny speaker, a home 8-bit console, the warmer 16-bit era.
- A console echo. Short, crunchy, on dotted eighths at your tempo.
- Mix-ready. The level held as you turn it; LIVE for zero-latency tracking.
- CHIP (crushed sound to chip voice), CRUNCH (12 bit / 32 kHz to 4 bit / 8 kHz) and ECHO.
- OCTAVE (-1, 0, +1) and TYPE (HANDHELD, HOME 8-BIT, 16-BIT ERA).
- LIVE, MIX, IN and OUT with meters, and ENGAGE.
- 15 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
HANDHELD · OCTAVE
A pocket game on your vocal.
The chip voice an octave up through a handheld's tiny speaker, at 4 bit: the classic chiptune voice in one preset.
What Bleeplet does
Every control has one job: the exact games machine you hear in your head, faster.
CHIP
From crushed to chiptune
Blends your crushed sound with a square-wave chip voice that follows the melody and the loudness of what it hears, equal power. 50 % is half and half; 100 % is the chip voice alone.
CRUNCH
From 12-bit to 4-bit grit
Fewer bits and a lower sample rate together, in whole bits: 12 bit / 32 kHz at 0 %, the era TYPE picks at 50 %, 4 bit / 8 kHz at 100 %. The knob reads the bits and rate.
TYPE
Three eras of games machine
HANDHELD: 4 bit / 16 kHz through a tiny speaker. HOME 8-BIT: 5 bit / 11 kHz, the default. 16-BIT ERA: 8 bit / 32 kHz with a warmer echo.
OCTAVE
Up for chiptune, down for bass
The chip voice an octave up for the bright pocket-game voice, on the note heard, or an octave down for a bass-register chip line.
ECHO
The console echo
A short, crunchy echo on dotted eighths at your song's tempo: more level and more repeats as it turns, every repeat crushed on its way out.
LIVE
Zero latency when you track
Off, the chip voice is lined up with your notes at 60 ms of latency your DAW makes up. On, nothing is delayed, for singing or playing through it; the chip voice then starts a moment late after each pause.
Level held
No jump as you turn it
An automatic input level, a level match on the chip voice and measured trims keep the sound at your dry level as you turn CHIP, CRUNCH and TYPE.
MIX, IN and OUT
Gain where you need it
The effect against your dry sound, and input and output gain, -24 to +24 dB, with meters on both.
15 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
Chip voices, a band through a cartridge, pure bitcrush, three eras and two echoes, every one within about 1 LU of the dry.
Clean in the gaps
No hiss between the notes
A gate keeps room noise from turning into static, and a faint noise floor rides with the sound and is gone in the gaps.
A face that moves
See the bits
The coin slot's light steps with the chip voice in as many levels as CRUNCH leaves bits: coarser steps as you crunch harder.
Inside the plugin
The Bleeplet window: two big knobs, the echo, the octave and the era.

Questions
How do I make my vocal sound 8-bit?
Insert it on the vocal: Init is already half crushed vocal, half chip voice. Voice / Pocket Hero puts the chip voice an octave up through a handheld's speaker; Voice / Chip Only leaves the chip voice alone.
Is it just a bitcrusher?
No. CRUNCH crushes the bits and rate, and CHIP adds a square-wave chip voice that plays the melody it hears: the part a bitcrusher cannot do. The Crush presets are there when you want the crusher alone.
Does it work on chords and drum loops?
CRUNCH, ECHO and the eras work on anything. The chip voice follows one note at a time, so on chords and drums it stays quiet and you hear the crushed sound; it shines on vocals, leads and bass lines.
Can I sing through it while I record?
Yes: switch LIVE on for zero latency. The chip voice then starts a moment late after each pause. Switch LIVE off for mixing, and the chip voice lands right on your notes.
Will it change my level?
No. The level is held as you turn CHIP, CRUNCH and TYPE, and every preset sits within about 1 LU of your dry sound.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/bleeplet-8-bit-effect-manual.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
Every games machine sound. One insert.
A chip voice that plays your melody, three eras of crunch, a console echo and LIVE for zero-latency tracking.
