Hear the difference
The same dry voice, without and with Xenotalk.
Dialogue, alien
A dry two-man dialogue · Init (higher, a metallic ring, a small room)
Spoken phrases, small high visitor
Dry female spoken phrases · Type / Small High Visitor
Dialogue, giant insectoid
The same dialogue · Type / Giant Insectoid (lower, a buzzing ring)
Dialogue, backwards tongue
Later lines of the same dialogue · Language / Backwards Tongue (chopped and reversed)
Pop hook, squeaky spaceman
A dry female pop chorus · Speed / Squeaky Spaceman (TAPE on: sped-up and squeaky)
Rap verse, infant from Mars
A dry hip-hop verse · Speed / Infant From Mars (TAPE on: high, warbling, roomy)
Every clip is level-matched, so the difference you hear is tone, not volume.
Xenotalk in action
Why Xenotalk
Every layer in one insert
The whole alien recipe in one place: pitch and throat, a metallic ring, a fast warble, backwards babble and a room. No chain of four plugins to set up and balance.
Clearly not human, still understood
SIZE moves the pitch and the throat together, so the voice sounds like a creature of another size, not a sped-up tape, and the words stay readable. TAPE gives you the sped-up tape when you want it.
A creature in one click
TYPE sets up a small visitor, a giant insect, a synthetic envoy or a drifter from deep space, each from documented settings. Every preset is level-matched to your dry voice, within 1 LU on average.
Size. Metal.
Two big knobs do the work: how big the creature is, and how much metallic ring is in its voice.

The alien voice effect
- Another body, not just another pitch. SIZE moves the pitch and the throat together, -5 to +7 semitones.
- The metallic ring. A ring modulator whose pitch follows the creature, 65 to 244 Hz.
- An alien language. WARBLE wobbles the pitch at 8 Hz; BABBLE plays your words backwards, in time with your song.
- The sped-up tape voice. TAPE makes the throat follow the pitch all the way.
- SIZE, METAL, WARBLE, BABBLE and SPACE (a short bright room, a long dark one on DEEP SPACE).
- TYPE (SMALL, GIANT, SYNTHETIC, DEEP SPACE), TAPE and SYNC.
- MIX, IN and OUT with meters, and ENGAGE.
- 12 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
TYPE · DEEP SPACE
A drifter from deep space.
Slightly up, a low 65 Hz ring and a long dark room twice the usual length: one of four creatures one click away.
What Xenotalk does
Every control has one job: the exact creature you hear in your head, faster.
SIZE
From a tiny visitor to a huge one
Turn right for a small, high creature, left for a huge one: -5 to +7 semitones, with the throat moving too, so it sounds like another body, not just another pitch. The knob names the size: TINY, SMALL, HUMAN SIZE, LARGE or HUGE.
METAL
The metallic alien buzz
A ring modulator blended into the shifted voice, from clean to full ring. Its pitch follows SIZE and TYPE, from 65 to 244 Hz, and the knob reads it: 100 HZ RING at the default.
WARBLE
A fast, wobbling pitch
An 8 Hz wobble in the pitch, up to a semitone either way: the classic alien-voice-changer flutter, from a tremble to a wobble.
BABBLE
An alien language
The voice cut into short pieces, each played backwards, blended against the forward voice: backwards syllables that sound like an unknown tongue.
SYNC
Babble in time with your song
On, each backwards piece is a 1/16 note at your song's tempo and lands on its grid; off, 125 ms each, whatever the tempo.
SPACE
A short, bright room
The room around the creature, from dry to wet: 0.8 to 1.2 s with its pre-delay set by TYPE, and a long, dark room twice that length on DEEP SPACE.
TYPE
Four aliens, one click
SMALL, GIANT, SYNTHETIC or DEEP SPACE: each sets its own throat law, ring pitch, pre-delay and room, and sets SIZE, METAL and SPACE to suit it, as one undo step.
TAPE
The sped-up tape voice
One key: the throat follows the pitch all the way, as a recording played fast does, for the squeaky sped-up creature. Off, it moves less and the voice stays clearer. It adds no latency.
MIX, IN and OUT
Gain and blend where you need them
MIX blends the alien with your dry voice, kept in time with it; IN and OUT give -24 to +24 dB with meters on both.
12 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
Sped-up creatures, the four types at their documented settings, backwards babble, two warbling voice-changer settings and a dry version, each level-matched to the dry voice (within 1 LU on average).
Level held for you
Judge the sound, not the volume
A built-in level follower and a measured trim for every METAL and SPACE setting keep the alien at your voice's loudness, quiet or loud.
A face that moves
See the craft come alive
The craft's glowing lens follows your voice, its ring of lights flickers with METAL and WARBLE, and the logo's light breathes with the level.

Questions
How do I make an alien voice?
Insert Xenotalk on the voice: Init is already an alien, higher, with a metallic ring and a small room. Turn SIZE left for a huge creature, raise METAL for more buzz, add WARBLE and BABBLE, or pick a TYPE.
Will the words still be understood?
Yes, at the default: SIZE moves the throat less than the pitch so the voice stays readable, and BABBLE and WARBLE start at 0. Turn BABBLE up when you want the words to turn into an alien language.
Can I get the sped-up creature voice?
Yes. Switch TAPE on and turn SIZE up, or load one of the three Speed presets: the throat follows the pitch all the way, as a recording played fast does.
Can I use it live or for streaming?
It has a fixed delay of about 82 ms at 48 kHz, which your DAW compensates on playback. When you monitor your own voice through it that delay is audible, so it suits recording, editing and mixing best.
Does it work on dialogue for video?
Yes. The meme and video alien is its first job: Init turns a spoken line into a creature at once. The presets were level-matched on spoken lines and sung vocals together, within 1 LU of the dry on average.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/xenotalk-alien-voice-effect-manual.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
Every alien voice you've heard. One insert.
