DryerDe-reverb effect · turns the room and the tails down on voices and drums
Closer, drier vocals without a new room.
Recorded in a bedroom, a bathroom or a booth that rings? Dryer turns the room down where you hear it most: the tails after every word, note or hit and the gaps between them. One knob, zero latency, and DELTA to hear exactly what it takes away.

Spoken lines with a reverb already printed on them · Dialogue / Room Echo
A voice-over in a small bedroom, closer
Dry spoken lines heard in a real treated bedroom · Voice / Untreated Room
Snare ring and room, tightened

Dryer in action
Why Dryer
Closer in one turn
REDUCE turns each of three bands down while it rings on its own, after every word, note or hit. At the default the tails after a phrase come down about 5 dB and ring about a quarter shorter, and the voice sits closer.
Drier between the lines
GAPS sets a floor between phrases that follows your voice's level, so a quiet take and a loud one get the same treatment. Turn it up and the spaces go dry.
Hear exactly what goes
DELTA plays only what is being taken away: the room and the tails. If you hear words in it, back off. Every preset stays within a fraction of a dB of your level.
Reduce. Gaps.
Two big knobs do the work: how far the room's tails come down, and how dry the spaces between phrases go.

The de-reverb effect
- The room comes down. At the default the tails after a phrase drop about 5 dB and ring about a quarter shorter.
- Voice or drums. DRUMS shortens a snare's ring and a room mic's wash, with nothing gated.
- Zero latency by default. Record, stream or call through it; HQ adds a 10 ms look-ahead when you mix.
- Your level, kept. No make-up gain; every preset within 0.1 LU of the input on average.
- REDUCE, GAPS and FOCUS; VOICE or DRUMS.
- DELTA, HQ, the CUT and FLOOR meters.
- MIX, IN and OUT with meters, and ENGAGE.
- 12 factory presets and your own preset files; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %; the full manual.
DRUMS
Shorter ring. Tighter room.
Switch to DRUMS and each hit's ring and the room after it shorten, with nothing gated. Aim FOCUS at the snare's ring or the toms' boom.
What Dryer does
Every control has one job: a closer, drier take, faster.
REDUCE
The room comes down
Each of three bands (below 250 Hz, 250 Hz to 4 kHz, above 4 kHz) is turned down while it is dying away, up to 15 dB at 100 %. 50 % by default. The line under it reads OFF, LIGHT, CLOSER or DRY.
GAPS
Drier between the lines
A floor between phrases that follows your voice's level, from 40 dB under it at 0 % to 12 dB under at 100 %. Above 30 % it opens the floor up to 18 dB deep. The line reads FLOOR OFF, FLOOR ON or NO FLOOR.
FOCUS
Aim at the room you have
Toward LOW the boomy low end of a small room is cut hardest; toward HIGH the bright splash of tiles and glass. CENTRE treats all three bands alike.
TYPE
Voice or drums
VOICE: the cut plus the floor between phrases. DRUMS: the cut only, so each hit's ring and the room after it shorten and nothing is gated.
DELTA
Hear what is taken away
One key in the footer plays only the room and the tails being removed. A quick way to set REDUCE: if you hear words in it, turn down.
HQ
Cleaner word starts
Off by default for zero latency. On, it looks 10 ms ahead, so the start of each word keeps more of its attack; the 10 ms are reported to your host.
MIX
Blend some room back
The dried sound against the original. 100 % by default; lower it for a natural, less dry result.
IN and OUT
Gain where you need it
Input and output gain, -24 to +24 dB, with meters. The floor follows your level on its own, so gain staging does not change the result.
12 sourced presets
Start from settings that work
Close vocals, untreated rooms, podcasts, room echo on a stream, sung legato lines, a boomy bedroom, snare ring, tom ring, room mics and overheads.
A face that moves
See the room dry out
The flooded floor dries in puddles as Dryer cuts and the water spreads back as it lets go; the far window glows with the output. In silence it rests.
Inside the plugin
The Dryer window: two big knobs, the aim, the type and the meters.

| Hear what goes | DELTA, one click | Often missing |
| Drums | A DRUMS type for snare ring and room mics | Often voice only |
| Aim | FOCUS at a boomy or a splashy room | One broadband amount |
| Level | Every preset within 0.1 LU of your level | Often louder or quieter |
| Controls | Two big knobs and three keys | Pages of settings |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, A>B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Hardware control | MIDI Learn on every control | Often host automation only |
| Licence | 5 computers per copy, no dongle, works offline | Often fewer activations, or a dongle |

Questions
Does it take away all the reverb?
No, and nothing honest at zero latency does. Dryer turns the room down where it rings on its own: the tails after each word, note or hit, and the gaps between them. The reverb that sits under a word stays, so a very wet room comes out shorter rather than dry. On a close vocal in a small room the result sounds clearly closer.
How do I use it on a vocal recorded at home?
Start on the default, Closer Vocal. Turn REDUCE up until the tails are as short as you want and the words still start cleanly, then turn GAPS up to dry the spaces between phrases. Press DELTA: if you hear words in it, back off.
Will it cut the start of my words?
A little: at zero latency the first 10 ms of a word come down about 4 dB on average. Switch on HQ when you mix: it looks 10 ms ahead and keeps more of each word's start; your host lines up the 10 ms.
Does it work on drums?
Yes. Switch TYPE to DRUMS: each hit's ring and the room after it shorten, and nothing is gated. Drums / Snare Tighten, Drums / Tom Ring, Room Mic / Pull Closer and Drums / Overheads are ready to go.
Will it change my level?
No. It only turns the room down, with no make-up gain, and every preset sits within 0.1 LU of your level on average.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
Up to five of your own for each copy you buy. To move it, deactivate it in the plugin on the old computer and unlock it on the new one.
Does it need the internet?
Once, to unlock it with the code we email you. After that it checks in now and then and works offline in between.
Is there a manual?
Yes. The full manual explains every control, every preset and the menus, with tips. It opens from the help key (?) in the plugin's top bar, and lives at https://voxsamples.com/dryer-de-reverb-effect-manual.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
- Ryan Svensson (Founder & CEO)
