How much comes off
Gain into the clipper, 0 to +12 dB (+3 by default). The ceiling stays put, so DRIVE is how much of the peaks is rounded off. The line reads OFF, TOUCH, MASTER, LOUD or SLAMMED.
SOFTNESS
Hard or round
The clip's shape, from a hard clip at 0 % (the most transparent on a master) to a round, gentle curve at 100 %. 50 % by default.
CEILING
The highest it goes
In the footer beside OUT: the most any sample leaves at, -3.0 to 0.0 dBFS (-1.0 by default). No setting can cross it.
TYPE
Clean, warm or grit
The colour ahead of the clip: CLEAN, WARM (a light density) or GRIT (a full sine stage, the soft stage driven harder), each at the same loudness.

The meter under the crest: how far the biggest peaks come down, up to 12 dB. A typical master reads 2 to 3 dB.

Hear what is clipped off

Questions
How much louder will my master get?
On a mix that peaks near full scale, the default makes it about 2.3 to 2.9 LU louder with the biggest peaks rounded off by 3 to 4 dB. Push DRIVE for more; LISTEN tells you when it starts to cost the music.
Soft clipper or limiter?
A clipper takes the peaks off instantly, with no attack or release, so it cannot pump; a limiter is smoother on big overs. Many engineers clip a few dB first and limit the rest: put Kushion before your limiter.
How do I know it is not just louder?
Press MATCH. It plays the clipped output and the original at the same loudness, so switching ENGAGE compares the sound alone.
Can I use it on drums and 808s?
Yes. Drums / Drum Bus Crunch, Drums / Driven Desk Drums, 808 / 808 Push and 808 / 808 Round are made for them; GRIT adds bite.
Will it go over my ceiling?
No. Every sample stays at or under CEILING at any setting: the clip runs 4x oversampled and a second clip after the oversampling filters catches what they add.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins, on Windows 7 SP1 or later or macOS 10.13 or later. There is no standalone app.
How many computers can I use it on?
