Why VS-N1
Negative ratios
Go past 10:1 and a limit into negative ratios, where loud notes come out quieter than soft ones. Flip transients and swell the sustain.
Colour you can steer
A tilt EQ in the colour stage, with x10, and GAIN that drives the output harder.
Pump without collapse
GR LIMIT caps how far it pulls down, so the pumping stays musical. AUTO FAST and ANTI LOG keep it quick when it matters.
Eight knobs, no limits
THRESHOLD, ATTACK, RELEASE, RATIO, EQ GAIN, EQ FREQ, GR LIMIT and GAIN, with the keys that change how each one behaves.
- VST3 · AU · AAX
- Windows and macOS
- 32 samples latency
The creative compressor
- Negative ratios. Flip transients and swell the sustain for effects no ordinary compressor can make.
- Colour you can steer. A tilt EQ in the colour stage, with x10, and GAIN that drives the output harder.
- Pump without collapse. GR LIMIT caps how far it pulls down.
- Fast when it matters. AUTO FAST speeds the attack on sudden peaks; ANTI LOG makes the release snap back.
- THRESHOLD, ATTACK, RELEASE, RATIO (1.2:1 to 10:1, a limit, then negative), EQ GAIN, EQ FREQ, GR LIMIT and GAIN; AUTO FAST, ANTI LOG, EQ ON, x10, GR LIMIT ON, IN and LINK; LED gain reduction ladders.
- ADVANCED: FLOOR, the unit's very low noise floor.
- A display unit you can hide: gain reduction readings, six seconds of gain reduction history, the live transfer curve and a needle meter.
- One analog unit, built in: the small part tolerances of a single unit, each side its own, in every setting.
- Presets you save and load, with arrows to step through them; A/B, undo and redo, MIDI Learn on every control; a window from 75 to 200 %.
- 32 samples of latency, reported to your DAW, and a POWER-off bypass that stays in time.
Negative ratios
Past limiting, into reverse
Turn RATIO past 10:1 and the limit, and loud notes come out quieter than soft ones. The transfer curve, measured from the unit at your settings, draws what you set.
What VS-N1 does
Every control on the panel and in the ADVANCED strip, and what it does for the track.
RATIO, into negative
Past limiting, into reverse
1.2:1 to 10:1, then a limit, then negative ratios from -0.3:1 to -4:1, where loud notes come out quieter than soft ones.
THRESHOLD, ATTACK and RELEASE
Shape every hit
Threshold +16 to -18 dB, attack 0 to 150 ms and release 5 to 1200 ms, as the panel prints them.
AUTO FAST and ANTI LOG
Fast when it matters
AUTO FAST speeds the attack on sudden peaks. ANTI LOG makes the release snap back.
EQ and GAIN
Colour you can steer
A tilt EQ of ±6 dB in the colour stage, turning over from 26 Hz to 2.2 kHz, ten times higher with x10. GAIN, 0 to 20 dB, drives the output harder.
GR LIMIT
Pump without collapse
With GR LIMIT ON, it never pulls down further than the knob allows, 21 dB to 0 dB. The amber GRL lamp shows it is on.
IN, LINK and the LED ladders
Two channels, one set of controls
IN switches it in. LINK compresses both channels from one detector, or each on its own. Two 14-LED ladders show the gain reduction.
The display unit
Pump it, on purpose
Gain reduction readings, six seconds of gain reduction history, the transfer curve measured from the unit at your settings, and a needle meter. Hide it when you want just the panel.
One analog unit, built in
One unit's character, always on
The small part tolerances of a single unit, each side its own, in every setting. No selector: it is always this one unit.
Inside the plugin
The whole VS-N1 window: the panel, the display unit and the ADVANCED strip.

How VS-N1 compares
A compressor that keeps going where others stop.
| VS-N1 | Typical compressor plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| Ratios | 1.2:1 to 10:1, a limit, then negative to -4:1 | Stop at limiting |
| Colour EQ | A tilt EQ in the colour stage, with x10 | Rarely offered |
| Gain reduction ceiling | GR LIMIT, 21 dB to 0 dB | Rarely offered |
| Attack on sudden peaks | AUTO FAST | Rarely offered |
| Release shape | ANTI LOG for a snappier recovery | One release curve |
| Stereo detection | LINK on or off | Often linked only |
| Seeing the compression | LED ladders, gain reduction history and a measured transfer curve | A meter only |
| Try-and-compare | A/B, undo and redo | Often missing |
| Hardware control | MIDI Learn on every control | Often missing |
| Window size | 75 to 200 % | Often fixed |
"Typical" describes what we commonly see in this category; it does not describe any particular product. VS-N1 facts are from the plugin and its manual, October 2026.

Questions
What does VS-N1 do?
It is a creative compressor that plays like an instrument: from smooth control to wild, musical pumping, with negative ratios, a tilt EQ in its colour stage and a ceiling on how far it may pull down.
Which sources does it suit?
Drums that should breathe, rooms that should explode, and vocals that want a shape a plain compressor will not give them. It does smooth control too.
What is a negative ratio?
Past 10:1 and the limit, RATIO turns negative: the louder a note goes over the threshold, the quieter it comes out. Transients flip and the sustain swells.
How is it different from a plain compressor?
A plain compressor stops at limiting. VS-N1 keeps going into negative ratios, steers its colour with a tilt EQ, caps its gain reduction with GR LIMIT, and speeds up on sudden peaks with AUTO FAST.
What does "one analog unit, built in" mean?
VS-N1 carries the small part tolerances of one single unit, each side its own, in every setting. There is no selector and nothing to switch: it is always that one unit.
Does it work in my DAW?
Any 64-bit DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins: VST3 and AAX on Windows 10 and 11, VST3, AU and AAX on macOS 11 or later.
Does it add latency?
32 samples, which it reports to your DAW so everything stays in time. Switched off, it passes the sound through delayed by the same amount.

Founder's Story
"When COVID hit, I finally had time to dive into music production—only to discover I was missing the right tools. The plugins I tried were clunky, overloaded with unnecessary features, and killed my vibe with endless tweaking. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, with my engineering background, I started making free and simple audio plugins for my producer friends. They loved them! That’s when I set out on a mission to create plugins that save you time, streamline your workflow, and keep your creativity flowing."
